Java simple earrings

Java is Fénix's island, and these earrings are a reminder that inspiration can come from where you least expect it.

Fénix must have been five at the time. She walked into the workshop while I was enamelling and asked if she could come and paint with me one day. "I'd love that," I told her. She turned up the very next day with a slice of cake and a smile on her face.

I gave her gloves and an apron. I got the colours ready, the catalysts, and a few prototypes that hadn't turned out quite right. And just as everything was set, she asked me to put on Let it go.

I put it on. From then on the space was no longer mine, it was hers. It was as if she were alone, completely lost in her own world.

Strawcherry was born that afternoon too: it is the colour of the jam on the cheesecake Fénix brought.

Each half-sphere is cut, sanded, soldered and polished by hand. It is then given a matte finish, white bronze plating and 24-carat gold plating, and finished with a hypoallergenic coating.

The coloured areas are enamelled last: painted by hand, one by one, with bisphenol-free enamels that are gentle on the skin. That is why no two pairs ever turn out exactly alike.

They are made on Calle Alameda, in the Barrio de las Letras, in a workshop you are welcome to visit. If you come by, you will probably see the next pair being enamelled.

They are just the right size: never too much, and never so small that they go unnoticed.

Their symmetrical design makes them easy to wear with plain or patterned clothes, and the contrast between the enamel and the gold brings a touch of life to any outfit.

If you love the idea but would like them to stand out more, they also come in a large version and an asymmetric version, which pairs a large half-disc with a simple one.

The hypoallergenic coating protects the piece from contact with skin and perfume. Keep them dry and stored separately, and avoid putting on scent while you are wearing them. With normal wear and this care, the gold plating will last for years.
