Habana choker

This choker does two things at once.

On the one hand, it is a minimalist piece, simple and easy to wear, the kind almost everyone loves. On the other, it seeks a very particular feeling: walking through the countryside when a tiny flower falls on you, clings to your jacket or your dress, and you find yourself wishing it were a piece of jewellery. That it had drifted over and stayed right there.

It is about becoming part of nature with a touch of colour, because there is nothing more colourful than the botanical world.

It belongs to Vereda Tropical, the collection in which the workshop first began working with pearlescent finishes. The flower comes in matte gold and in two hand-painted enamels: mother-of-pearl with hints of mauve, and fuchsia pink blended with orange.

The pearlescent finish is not painted in one go. Several layers come first, each of which must dry, and the pearlescent one is the last. It cannot be too obvious, or it swallows the delicacy of the piece.

It is made on Calle Alameda, in the Barrio de las Letras, in a workshop you are welcome to visit. If you come by, you will probably see the next one taking shape.

It is a choker for every day and for giving. Short, light and with a single flower, it looks lovely on its own in summer and peeking over a jumper in winter. If you like the idea on a larger scale, the same flower appears on the large Habana necklace and on the earrings in the series.

The lacquer protects the plating and the enamel from contact with skin and perfume. Keep it dry and stored separately, and avoid putting on fragrance while wearing the piece. With normal wear and this care, the gold plating lasts for years.
