Face ring

The Face series belongs to the Rising Up! collection, and the title says it all: getting back up. It was born from a difficult personal moment, from the need for things to be reborn and to face them head-on. Get up and face it, because that is the only way forward. Hence Face: to confront. Behind it is "Be Still" by The Killers, which Maite was listening to at the time.

In the ring, that idea turns into play. Maite wanted something more joyful, to leave the heaviness and the burden behind, which is why the series is scattered with colour rather than kept to a single shade.

Enamelling a curved surface brings its own difficulty: the drop tends to slide down and gather on the inside.

Here the challenge was exactly the opposite. The shell had to be enamelled evenly across every level, with no pooling, so that what you notice is the volume of the piece and not the weight of the colour.

It is made on Calle Alameda, in the Barrio de las Letras, in a workshop you are welcome to visit. If you drop by, you'll most likely see the next one taking shape.

Wear it on its own or alongside another piece from the series. Both colours, Candy and Green, are designed to be mixed with each other and with the rest of Face: earrings, necklace, bracelet and brooch.

The lacquer protects the plating and the enamel from contact with skin and perfume. Keep it dry and stored on its own, and avoid putting on scent while you're wearing it. With everyday wear and this little bit of care, the gold plating will last for years.
